Manchester United Set to Secure German Striker Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich
Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side
The forward, with six months left on her contract, is known as a consistent goal-getter for both club and country. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a marquee coup for the Women’s Super League team.
Her exit from Bayern was expected since she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the club's supporters after a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
It was reported in December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its top forwards. Per multiple sources, all the paperwork for the move have now been completed.
Reliable Goalscoring to Strengthen the Forward Line
The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a major uplift to the team's forward line. Schüller has been highly consistent in front of goal in the Bundesliga.
- For seven straight seasons, including the last term, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Securing the German international comes at a time when the club appear to be gathering positive momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes feature qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.
Off the pitch, the winter break has seen additional activity:
- The acquisition of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since arriving in 2023.
Regarding the midfielder's new deal, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill allows her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”
Lundkvist, who has arrived from a club in the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
