The Miami Heat scored 86 first-half points against the Grizzlies

Miami Heat secured a overwhelming 146-114 win against the Memphis Grizzlies in their initial NBA match since guard Rozier was detained for alleged illegal sports betting.

Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was additionally detained as part of a sweeping FBI probe into sports betting. Both men deny the allegations.

But, the Heat were focused as they recorded 86 first-half points to lead Memphis by 39 at halftime, the largest halftime lead in the team's 37-year existence.

Adebayo top-scored with twenty-four scores and later said Terry had the team's full backing.

"We stand behind him. Full support," Bam said. "We are with him all the way. He's like family ultimately."

Miami head coach Spoelstra commented: "Rozier is somebody who is important to all of us. He has made a beneficial influence on our team.

"We send our thoughts and our care for him as he faces this."

The Trail Blazers also secured their initial match after the arrests, with Brazilian Splitter stepping in as temporary head coach in Billups' absence and guiding the team to a decisive 139-119 victory over the Warriors.

"We all had positive times with Billups and how he coached," Splitter said. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but we have a job to do."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Upset' by Recent Events

Addressing the arrests for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the past few days.

"There's nothing more important to the NBA and its fans than the fairness of the competition," he told Amazon Prime. "And so I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

The commissioner further mentioned an league probe into Rozier's actions in March 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he played for the Hornets versus the Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the betting companies," he continued.

"We then looked into that situation and were very transparent about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has subpoena power... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the NBA is unable to.

"So, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.

"And two and a half years after, he has not been found guilty of anything, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise here between upholding rights and investigating."
