Tributes Flow for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," shared Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the production, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order issued a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a official listing noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the deaths, public personalities shared different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering controversial claims that were met with immediate backlash by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his show, Rogan characterized the remarks as "shocking" and implied they showed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide should have stepped in when the impulse to speak on the passing was made.
